Education and Family Programme
Taking ‘The Future’ as our festival theme, Arts Educator Ian Malhotra has been commissioned to work with our Head of Learning, Sarah Jerrard-Dinn to co-design an educational programme which will be taking place in local schools across the City for the duration of the Biennial.

Can you imagine what Coventry will look like in 10 or 20 years’ time?

Future Cities is an exciting collaborative multi-media workshop that engages children to imaginatively think about upcoming developments and the regeneration of their City, Coventry.

Through-out our festival we have a busy programme of stimulating and creative practical workshops for children and families inspired by the Biennial’s local and international artists. All of our family events are free unless stated, however some have limited spaces, follow the bookable links below.

 

Arts Award

Arts Award Discover: Contemporary Sculpture in a Day. The Box, FarGo Village.
Saturday 7th October 2017, 11:30am – 3:30pm.

Families are welcome to join early career artist/educators to learn the basics of creating large scale sculptures out of every day materials.

Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. Materials provided. Ages 5+. Please book a place at here. £3 per child, booking essential.

Saturday 21st October 2017, 11:30am – 3:30pm.

Families are welcome to join early career artist/educators to learn the basics of creating contemporary drawings and paintings out of every day materials.

Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. Materials provided. Ages 5+. Please book a place at here.

 

To achieve Discover, children and young people will discover and learn about the arts around them, find out about artists, be inspired by their work and share their experiences with others through a practical workshop, gaining a certificate at the end.

 

Family Workshops

Family Sunday – Future Creators! The CET Building.
Sunday 8th and 22nd October 2017, 11am – 1pm.

Families are welcome to drop in for a hands-on morning of creative making responding to artworks being shown in the biennial. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. Suitable for ages 4+.

 

Family Sunday – Future Creators: Repeator Takeover. The CET Building.
Sunday 15th October 2017, 11am 12:30pm.

Families are welcome to join Laurence Price and Cathy Wade for an active and fun session in which they will become urban explorers. Transforming found outdoor objects into art! Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. Suitable for ages 4+.

 

Drop-in Family Drawing Workshop. The CET Building.
Saturday 14th October 2017, 11:30am 1pm.

Drop-in and recreate artist Marion Piper’s unique, abstract drawings. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. Suitable for ages 5+.

 

Piped Plaster Ceiling Rose Workshop. The CET Building.
Saturday 21st October 2017, 2pm 4pm.

This fun workshop is inspired by Assemble’s process of making ornate, Victorian style Ceiling Roses. Suitable for ages 5+.
